Synopsis

Krayzie Bone turns "Paper" into a slick, performance-driven portrait of ambition and street-level hustle. He delivers the song amid urban locations, flashy cars, money-centered imagery, and scenes of him moving through the city with his crew. The video balances laid-back confidence with the urgency of chasing financial security, while Krayzie's melodic, rapid-fire delivery remains the central attraction. Layzie Bone also appears, reinforcing the connection between Krayzie's solo career and the Bone Thugs-n-Harmony camp.

Factoids & Trivia

• "Paper" was released in October 1999 as the second single from Krayzie Bone's debut solo album, "Thug Mentality 1999." The accompanying video followed later that year.

• Krayzie Bone produced the track himself, making it one of the album's prominent examples of his control over both the vocal performance and the musical direction.

• Layzie Bone makes an appearance in the video, giving the solo visual a recognizable Bone Thugs-n-Harmony presence without turning it into a full group performance.

• The song incorporates elements of Surface's "Closer Than Friends" and "You Are My Everything," helping explain its smoother, more melodic feel beneath Krayzie's street-focused lyrics.

• "Thug Mentality 1999" debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum in the United States, placing "Paper" within a commercially significant period for Krayzie Bone's solo work.
