Synopsis

A T-800 Terminator is assembled and programmed to eliminate Guns N' Roses during a concert. As the machine advances through the venue, footage from Terminator 2: Judgment Day is intercut with the band performing "You Could Be Mine" onstage. After the show, the Terminator corners the musicians backstage and scans them one by one. When Axl Rose is identified as the final target, the machine decides that killing the band would be a "waste of ammo" and walks away.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was created as a promotional tie-in for Terminator 2: Judgment Day, with the song appearing on the film's soundtrack before it was included on Use Your Illusion II.

• Arnold Schwarzenegger appears in character as the T-800, while the video also incorporates footage of Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong, Robert Patrick, and other material from the film.

• The band performance was filmed at the Ritz Theatre in New York on May 16, 1991. The concert was later released in full as part of the Use Your Illusion I & II Super Deluxe Edition.

• Izzy Stradlin is absent from the backstage sequence, where keyboardist Dizzy Reed appears with the group instead.

• Because the original video uses footage from Terminator 2, licensing issues kept it off Guns N' Roses' Welcome to the Videos DVD.

• A separate live version, using footage from the Ritz concert without the Terminator material, was released in 2022 to promote the expanded Use Your Illusion box set.
