Synopsis

The video turns "My Boo" into a carefree summer fantasy. It opens with women washing a car before shifting into bedroom preparations, getting dressed, and heading to an outdoor poolside party. As the song plays, the women lip-sync and dance among sunlit, celebratory scenes while a DJ keeps the record spinning. Jermaine Dupri appears as a playful lifeguard. The Ghost Town DJs themselves never appear, making the clip feel less like a conventional artist performance than a visual celebration of the song's popularity.

Factoids & Trivia

• The group does not appear in the video. Singer Virgo Williams, whose voice leads the recording, later said she did not even know a video was being made until a friend called her during the shoot.

• The concept was built around the idea that "My Boo" was every girl's favorite song, which explains why the women, rather than the credited act, are shown singing along throughout the clip.

• The shoot used several distinctly mid-1990s settings, including a bedroom, a car wash, and a poolside or beach-style party. Jermaine Dupri makes a cameo as the lifeguard.

• The video's unusual label, "(V/O version No. 2)," refers to the recording itself: Rodney Terry described the released track as the second version of the beat.

• The video's carefree party imagery became part of the song's long afterlife. Twenty years after its release, "My Boo" returned to the charts after the Running Man Challenge made the track viral again in 2016.
