Synopsis

Geri Halliwell enjoys a sun-drenched escape aboard a yacht off the coast of Sardinia. Wearing a black bikini, she performs the song among male dancers, mixing flirtatious choreography with playful poses and relaxed Mediterranean imagery. The video leans into the track's Latin-pop mood, using bright sunlight, blue water, and a carefree holiday atmosphere rather than a conventional storyline. Its deliberately simple setup places Halliwell's personality, styling, and performance at the center of the production.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was filmed in Sardinia, Italy, between July 5 and 8, 1999.

• Halliwell wanted a major change of tone from "Look at Me," whose video had been filmed in cold, wintry Prague. For "Mi Chico Latino," she aimed for something warmer, more immediate, and more connected to her audience.

• Halliwell later summarized the video's concept as a yacht, a bikini, and attractive male dancers - a knowingly straightforward formula designed to appeal to both teenage girls and gay male fans.

• The video became one of the defining images of Halliwell's early solo career, helping establish a more playful and overtly glamorous persona after her departure from the Spice Girls.

• Halliwell later reflected that the healthy-looking image presented in the video concealed serious problems with restrictive dieting and bulimia. She subsequently spoke about attending recovery meetings.

• "Mi Chico Latino" became Halliwell's first solo UK number one, beginning a run of four consecutive UK chart-topping singles.
