Synopsis

Def Leppard perform inside a derelict Irish mansion as its rooms are steadily torn apart around them. A wrecking ball crashes through the building while a female construction worker attacks the interior with a sledgehammer, turning the demolition into a visual counterpart to the song's explosive hard-rock energy. The band continues playing amid the rubble, with the stately home gradually reduced to debris by the video's finale.

Factoids & Trivia

  • This was the original 1987 concept video, filmed at Mount Merrion House in Stillorgan, Dublin, Ireland.
  • The mansion was already derelict and was being demolished, allowing the production to incorporate genuine destruction rather than constructing a set for the wrecking-ball scenes.
  • The female construction worker was played by Rosemary Henderson, who was also appearing on Irish Saturday-morning children's television at the time.
  • Def Leppard reportedly disliked this concept. After the song became a major US hit, a second video assembled from concert footage replaced it for American MTV.
  • The video uses an extended, distortion-heavy introduction that differs from the standard album opening.
