Synopsis

Chris Rock turns "Champagne" into a comic takedown of late-1990s hip-hop excess. Presenting himself as a larger-than-life rap star, he celebrates expensive liquor while mocking braggadocious lyrics, luxury imagery, and the music industry's obsession with image. The video repeatedly shifts into exaggerated parodies of contemporary rap clips, including The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Hypnotize," Missy Elliott's "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)," and Lil' Kim's "Crush on You."
