Synopsis

A schoolgirl visits London's Natural History Museum, where her fascination with human bones is encouraged by the exhibits around her. After a boy's prank causes her to fall and break her wrist, she becomes increasingly preoccupied with seeing the body beneath the surface. Years later, now an adult at a nightclub, she sees the partygoers as dancing skeletons, including a couple in the bathroom and a man who approaches her at the bar. She leaves the club and discovers that the taxi driver is a skeleton too.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was released in 1999 as part of the campaign for *Surrender*, the Chemical Brothers' third studio album.

• Its two principal London locations are the Natural History Museum and the Ministry of Sound nightclub in South London. The contrast between a museum full of preserved specimens and a crowded dance floor gives the video its macabre visual logic.

• The Chemical Brothers do not appear as conventional performers. They make a brief cameo near the end, stepping out of a taxi with their DJ equipment as the woman leaves the club.

• The skeleton imagery turns the track's simple boy-and-girl chant into something more unsettling: beneath the nightclub's youthful energy, everybody is reduced to the same human framework.

• The clip remains one of the duo's most recognizable narrative videos, largely because its central visual device is easy to understand instantly but becomes stranger and darker as the story moves from childhood curiosity to adult nightlife.
