Synopsis

Two schoolgirls, played by Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler, abandon class and set off in a convertible for an impulsive road trip. Their carefree adventure takes them through roadside mischief, flirtation, dancing, and a stop at a country fair, where they enter a pole-dancing contest. Intercut with Aerosmith performing, the video builds a rebellious, sensual fantasy of teenage freedom before returning to the girls' continuing escape and a surprise appearance by the young man from "Amazing."

Factoids & Trivia

  • Released in November 1994, the video became the third installment in Aerosmith's informal trilogy of narrative clips featuring Alicia Silverstone, following "Cryin'" and "Amazing."
  • Liv Tyler was still in high school when the video was filmed. Her appearance carried an extra pop-cultural charge because she is Steven Tyler's daughter.
  • The young man shown at the end is Jason London, reprising his character from "Amazing." This links the two videos directly rather than treating "Crazy" as a completely separate story.
  • An extended director's cut appeared on Aerosmith's 1994 video compilation "Big Ones You Can Look At." It includes longer and more provocative material, while omitting the sequence in which the girls leave the farmer at the lake.
  • The video's schoolgirl imagery, road-trip structure, and provocative humor became defining examples of the glossy, story-driven MTV style of the mid-1990s.
  • The song itself earned Aerosmith the 1995 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
