Synopsis

In a stylized desert adventure, the Spice Girls become a team of fictional techno-warriors with individual alter egos and signature moves. They perform against a glittering backdrop, race through the landscape in a classic muscle car, and use martial arts and futuristic weapons to pursue a mysterious man. Their playful mission eventually leads to his capture, turning the video into a tongue-in-cheek action movie about female confidence, friendship, and control.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was filmed in California's Mojave Desert, including the El Mirage Dry Lake area, on September 7 and 8, 1996.

• Its action-movie concept drew inspiration from the cult film "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" and Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction."

• Each member received a fictional action persona: Melanie C became Katrina Highkick, Geri Halliwell played Trixie Firecracker, Emma Bunton was Kung Fu Candy, Victoria Beckham appeared as Midnight Miss Suki, and Melanie B took the name Blazin' Bad Zula.

• The girls performed martial-arts-inspired choreography, with Emma Bunton helping to develop some of the moves.

• Victoria's black PVC catsuit became one of the video's most recognizable fashion moments. The look also reportedly caught the attention of her future husband, David Beckham.

• The clip features a blue Dodge Charger Daytona, giving the desert setting an unmistakable 1970s American muscle-car feel.

• An alternate edit removed scenes involving the captured man and replaced them with additional performance footage.

• Behind-the-scenes material from the shoot was later included on the 1997 VHS release "One Hour of Girl Power."
