Synopsis

Shot during an Atari Teenage Riot performance in a dark Berlin venue, the video presents the band as a burst of physical, confrontational energy rather than a conventional electronic act. Alec Empire, Hanin Elias, and Carl Crack perform directly into the camera while intense strobe lighting fragments the images into flashes of movement, faces, and gestures. The sparse, almost claustrophobic presentation keeps attention on the group's live attack, matching the track's abrasive digital-hardcore sound and punk sensibility.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was filmed in 1993 and was Atari Teenage Riot's first music video.
  • The production deliberately rejected the computer animation and visual-effects style then commonly associated with electronic music. The band wanted a more punk-oriented document of its live energy.
  • It was shot on 16mm film using a single roll. The short length of "Atari Teenage Riot" made the song practical for that limitation.
  • Two stroboscopes provided the only lighting at the venue. The darkness was so extreme that the audience could not be properly seen, leaving the performers isolated against the flashes.
  • The video is an early visual statement of the band's digital-hardcore identity: electronic music presented through the raw physical language of punk performance.
