A lonely woman in a flowing dress moves through sunlit coastal landscapes, historic buildings, and tropical settings in Sri Lanka while members of Duran Duran catch fleeting glimpses of her. Their attempts to find or approach her shift between vivid color and stark black-and-white London scenes, giving the video a dreamlike sense of distance and disconnection. The band performs amid the exotic scenery, while the elusive figure remains just out of reach, reflecting the song's melancholy themes of isolation, longing, and emotional escape.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was created for Duran Duran's 1983 video album, rather than for a conventional single release. "Lonely in Your Nightmare" was one of several album tracks given a promotional film during the band's early video-driven period.

• The color footage was filmed in Sri Lanka in 1982, during the same location trip that produced the videos for "Hungry Like the Wolf" and "Save a Prayer."

• Several scenes were shot around Galle and Unawatuna Bay, including views connected with Galle Fort and the historic New Oriental Hotel, now known as Amangalla.

• The version included on the video album combines the Sri Lankan color footage with additional black-and-white material filmed in London nearly a year later.

• An earlier cut used only the Sri Lankan footage and was later issued as bonus material on the 2009 release of *Live at Hammersmith '82*.

• The video uses the David Kershenbaum remix of the song. This version includes an alternate lyric in the closing chorus.
