Synopsis

The video places Talking Heads in an eerie, mostly empty performance space where live action, projected images, and theatrical effects constantly blur together. David Byrne performs against changing backdrops of crowds, flames, houses, and nighttime roads, while younger doubles gradually appear alongside the adult band members. The images create a dreamlike collision between domestic life, mass entertainment, and pop spectacle. Rather than illustrating the lyrics literally, the video turns the song's restless energy into a surreal stage performance built around repetition, transformation, and visual disorientation.

• The band-performance footage was recorded at 254 East 2nd Street in Los Angeles on July 8, 1983.

• The video uses front and rear projection as a central visual device. Concert crowds, flames, and other moving images are displayed behind or around the performers instead of being presented as conventional locations.

• Younger performers were used as doubles for members of the band. Max Illidge, later known as the vocalist of 40 Below Summer, appears as a young David Byrne under the name Max Loving.
