Parasite Single - The Hunt

Music Video | 2014

Wiki

Synopsis

In a drab commercial district on the outskirts of a city, a lonely woman moves through the places that make up her daily life, including shops, salons, and other modest businesses. Her routine is repeatedly interrupted by Parasite Single, who appear in carefully coordinated costumes and seem to follow her from location to location. The woman's isolation gradually gives way to a strange, playful confrontation, culminating in an unexpected dance that turns the video's melancholy atmosphere into something liberating and surreal.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video stars German actress Katja Danowski, known for her role in the film "Herr Lehmann."
  • The concept grew from an interest in the colorful commercial streets found on the outskirts of large cities. The locations were treated as ready-made stages, with their unusual businesses, lighting, and decorations shaping the video's visual world.
  • The shoot covered eight locations over two days. Because there was little time for elaborate lighting, the production relied heavily on naturally available light.
  • The band's matched shots at different locations were achieved with practical precision. The crew measured positions and camera distances, then recreated the framing using marks, a measuring tape, and a felt-tip pen.
  • Danowski's final dance was developed during production. The original idea called for an angry anti-dance, but her own dancing ability inspired a change in direction. The choreography for both the performer and camera emerged over three takes.
  • Parasite Single funded the project independently and used crowdfunding to recover part of the production costs.
  • "The Hunt" was released as a single on April 8, 2014. The release also included a La Boum Fatale remix and the bonus track "Driven."
  • The song was written and performed by Parasite Single members Christian Seim and Jasmina Quach.
