Factoids & Trivia

• "Want Love" began as a club track circulated on Hysteric Ego's own promotional label, Ego Records, before its popularity with DJs attracted the attention of WEA. The major-label release followed in 1996.

• Ibiza was central to the track's early identity. Contemporary coverage described Robert White as a regular on the Ibiza club circuit and identified the island as the location for the video.

• The track reached No. 28 on the UK Singles Chart and topped the UK Dance Singles Chart in August 1996.

• Robert White built the original production with a compact setup that included a Korg M1, Roland Juno-106, Akai S1100, MPC 60 and MKS-7. He later explained that the song's recognizable drop resulted from an accidental sequencing error on the MPC 60.

• The drums were taken from The Bucketheads' "The Bomb! (These Sounds Fall into My Mind)," itself built around material from Chicago's "Street Player." White also said that the vocal parts were re-recorded for the WEA release, replacing the original Colonel Abrahams vocal samples.

• The song was later revisited through several remix releases, including the 1998 collection "Want Love (The Remixes)" and a 2013 rework by Crazibiza and Jerome Robins.

• The name Hysteric Ego came from a combination of the clothing brand Hysteric Glamour and a club balloon bearing the phrase "inflate your Ego."
