Synopsis

Chrissie Hynde takes on the role of an Emma Peel-style secret agent in this playful tribute to the British television series The Avengers. Driving through a stylized world of spies, doubles, and mysterious encounters, she searches for the missing John Steed while rival agents and distractions complicate the mission. Patrick Macnee appears through footage from the original series, with Hynde inserted into the action. The Pretenders also turn up in a club setting, reinforcing the video's knowingly theatrical, television-inspired approach.

• The video is built as a homage to The Avengers, the 1960s British spy series starring Patrick Macnee as John Steed and Diana Rigg as Emma Peel.

• Chrissie Hynde plays an Emma Peel-inspired agent, while Macnee appears as Steed through reused footage from the television show. Hynde was electronically inserted into some of the original scenes.

• Hynde drives a 1983 Reliant Scimitar SS1, a small British sports car that gives the chase sequences an especially period-specific look.
