Synopsis
The Shins arrive at a car dealership wearing orange jumpsuits and carrying out an unusual robbery. While one member distracts the sales staff, the others remove the gas-filled promotional balloons attached to the cars and load them into a waiting van. After escaping, the group reunites with their decoy and drives to an open field. There, they release the balloons into the sky, turning a petty theft into a strangely joyous act of liberation.
Factoids & Trivia

- The production was made for Sub Pop by Food Chain Films, with cinematography by Greg Schmitt.
- The balloons floating away at the end were largely created digitally. This avoided releasing thousands of balloons into the environment during filming.
- The video's bright, playful crime story contrasts with the song's more downbeat lyrics, which deal with frustration, isolation, and feeling trapped.
- "Australia" was released as a single in 2007 and appeared on the album "Wincing the Night Away."
