Synopsis
Sugarland's "Something More" video turns the song's restless search for a better life into an open-road journey. Jennifer Nettles, Kristian Bush, and Kristen Hall set out in a Cadillac along a dusty back road, but the car breaks down. After performing beside the smoking vehicle, Nettles continues alone, hitching rides in a truck, on a motorcycle, and in a station wagon. Sunset beach footage adds a reflective counterpoint as she keeps moving toward an uncertain but more hopeful destination.
Factoids & Trivia
- Released in 2005, "Something More" was the second single from Sugarland's debut album, "Twice the Speed of Life."
- The song reached No. 2 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart and held that position for five weeks.
- The video mirrors the song's lyrics by turning the idea of wanting a different life into literal travel. Nettles keeps accepting new rides instead of remaining stranded beside the broken-down Cadillac.
- Kristian Bush and Kristen Hall appear as two of the people giving Nettles a lift, making the video a small showcase for the full early Sugarland lineup.
- The clip's simple road narrative and sunset imagery place it within the open-road tradition of country music videos, while the breakdown gives the journey an intentionally improvised feel.
- "Something More" was later included on Sugarland's "Video Triple Play" release, issued in 2006.
