Synopsis

The Feeling stage a nervy Soviet-era space mission in a tightly choreographed one-shot video. Dan Gillespie Sells plays a cosmonaut preparing for launch, while the rest of the band populate the surrounding world as scientists, a soldier and a photographer. As the mission moves toward its decisive moment, the clip balances deadpan period detail with mounting anxiety, turning the song's emotional unease into a playful science-fiction scenario. The deliberately continuous camera movement gives the performance a theatrical, increasingly frantic momentum.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was built as a tricky one-shot, meaning the camera follows the action without conventional visible cuts. The approach makes the space mission feel like a live stage production and adds pressure to every movement.
  • The production recreates the look and atmosphere of a Soviet space program rather than presenting a straightforward band performance. Period styling, scientific equipment and official-looking uniforms give the clip its deliberately retro-futurist character.
  • Dan Gillespie Sells plays the Russian cosmonaut. Ciaran Jeremiah described his own role as a "scientific-space-boffin"; Paul Stewart appears as a soldier, Richard Jones as another laboratory worker and Kevin Jeremiah as a photographer.
  • Behind the camera, the video used cinematography by Denzil Armour-Brown and production design by Ben Ansell. Noreen Khan produced it for Academy Films.
  • "Without You" was released as the second single from The Feeling's 2008 album "Join with Us." The video was included on the CD single, which also featured "Play, Don't Think," "Different for Girls" and a remix of "I Thought It Was Over."
  • The single campaign began with digital releases in April 2008, followed by the CD and blue-vinyl editions. The track reached No. 53 on the UK Singles Chart.
