Synopsis
In the 2007 video, Robyn moves between an austere white room and a nighttime trip through the city with a young friend. She pauses at a kebab shop and enters a pool hall, where the evening brings her close to the man at the center of her longing. Her imagined intimacy collides with reality when he is seen with another woman. The restless editing and isolated performance shots keep the emotional uncertainty unresolved: the heartbreak may come from a lost relationship, or from wanting someone who was never truly hers.
Factoids & Trivia
- "Be Mine!" has two official music videos. The original accompanied the song's Swedish release in 2005, while the second was made for the international campaign in 2007.
- The original video presents several contrasting versions of Robyn, including a bald figure, a green-haired performer, a woman with a bowl haircut, and a disheveled character with white hair. Mirrors repeatedly turn the video toward self-scrutiny.
- The 2007 video was part of a wider effort to create new visuals for the international release of Robyn's self-titled album. "Handle Me" also received a new video during this period.
- The video's central situation echoes the song's station-set lyric, in which Robyn sees the person she wants with another woman. The visual version relocates that emotional shock to a nighttime city outing.
- The song was originally released as a single in Scandinavia in 2005 and later received a broader European release in 2008.
- The chorus was later sampled for Rye Rye's 2011 track "Never Will Be Mine," which features Robyn.
