Synopsis

The video follows several people trapped in difficult circumstances and imagining lives beyond their immediate reality. A homeless man, a military wife and her daughter, and a wheelchair user each confront disappointment, isolation, or physical limitation while dreaming of a better future. Flipsyde perform between these vignettes, creating a contrast between the group's energetic presence and the characters' bleak surroundings. The stories ultimately frame "Someday" as an anthem of perseverance, emphasizing the hope of overcoming hardship rather than offering an easy resolution.

Factoids & Trivia

• "Someday" was released in 2005 on Flipsyde's debut album, "We the People."

• The song helped form the identity of the group. According to Flipsyde's official history, Piper and Steve Knight were already working on the song when guitarist Dave Lopez joined in and turned it into a full-band arrangement.

• Two separate videos were made for the song. The official music video uses a dramatic narrative built around people struggling to change their circumstances.

• NBC produced a second version to promote its coverage of the 2006 Winter Olympics. That version featured figure skater Michelle Kwan and short-track speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno.

• The NBC production was filmed at a Los Angeles-area ice rink owned by Kwan and was prepared in several different lengths for television, online, cable, and retail use.
