Wiki

Synopsis

Money Mark appears to slip into an altered reality after smoking a mysterious chemical substance. The video moves from live-action performance into a surreal, heavily composited world inspired by pulp cinema and psychedelic fantasy. As the boundaries between physical space and graphic design collapse, Money Mark is transported into a two-dimensional realm, where the visual logic becomes increasingly strange and dreamlike. The journey ends with a comic, disorienting return to reality, punctuated by an unexpected slap.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was released in 2001 alongside Money Mark's album "changiscoming" and was issued through Emperor Norton Records.
  • Money Mark later described the video as being made entirely with green-screen techniques. He also said that the character's transformation into a 2-D figure was his favorite part of the concept.
  • The visual style draws on colorful Thai movie billboard art, combining flat graphic figures with three-dimensional environments and live-action performers.
  • "Information Contraband" helped establish the Logan production company and was one of its earliest prominent music-video projects.
  • The video won Best Directorial Debut for an electronic music video at the 2001 MVPA Awards.
  • It was subsequently shown at film festivals internationally and appeared in video compilations, including "Extraordinary Music Videos Vol. 1."
