Synopsis
Android Lust's Shikhee appears inside a claustrophobic mirrored cube, surrounded by distorted reflections of herself. Her face is partly hidden beneath wet hair and crossed strips of gauze as she delivers the song's increasingly hostile lyrics. The imagery grows more disturbing as she cuts across her lips, black liquid falls from above, and a contorted figure suspended in a plastic sac struggles against its enclosure. In the closing moments, the picture breaks into static, with black fluid seeming to leak from the damaged image itself.
Factoids & Trivia
- "Stained" appears on Android Lust's 2003 album "The Dividing." The music video is commonly dated to 2003, while a promotional listing for the clip was circulated to programmers in January 2005.
- The video was shot on 35mm film, giving its stark monochrome imagery a tactile, cinematic quality.
- The mirrored cube creates the impression of an infinite room, although the concept is built around a tightly confined performance space.
- Production involved a collaboration between conceptual and special-effects artists, including Robert Morris of Mechanical Whispers and Mark Larranaga, whose credits also include effects work connected with "X-Men" and "Spider-Man."
- The clip's visual language mirrors the song's movement from resentment to violent release, using gauze, bloodlike liquid, reflections, and film damage rather than a conventional narrative.
