Synopsis

The "Always" video follows Blink-182 as three versions of the same troubled relationship unfold at once. The screen is divided into three horizontal panels, with Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus, and Travis Barker each interacting with Sophie Monk. As the band members try to win her back, arguments, romantic gestures, physical comedy, and frantic attempts at reconciliation play out in carefully synchronized segments. The divided images gradually become a visual puzzle, combining different performers into a single, constantly shifting character.

Factoids & Trivia

• Blink-182 filmed the video in Australia during the band's 2004 tour. The production used the same studio space associated with the children's entertainment group The Wiggles.

• Australian singer and actress Sophie Monk appears as the woman involved with all three members.

• The three-panel design required precise, real-time choreography. The performers had to match their movements across separate sections of the frame so that bodies, gestures, and props could appear to connect.

• Mark Hoppus described the shoot as the most technically difficult video Blink-182 had made up to that point.

• The video was photographed by Brad Rushing and edited by David Blackburn. Blackburn later received the MVPA Best Editing Award for his work on the clip.
