Synopsis

The Kaiser Chiefs perform "Oh My God" through a deliberately surreal series of settings. In an abandoned toy store, the band members mime the song with toy instruments before the action shifts to more elaborate scenes involving an iceberg, a homemade communication device, a Bedouin tent, a vintage Parisian library and a martial arts retreat. The video constantly contrasts playful props and deadpan performance, while animated lines and graphic effects increasingly take over the imagery toward the finale.

Factoids & Trivia

• Two official videos were made for "Oh My God": an earlier 2004 version and the more widely circulated video produced for the 2005 reissue.

• The original 2004 video used 3D animation to depict band avatars traveling on a ferry through a surreal landscape populated by floating objects, butterflies and a Tyrannosaurus rex.

• The later video turns the song's restless "far away from home" theme into a globe-trotting visual joke, moving between locations that feel more like stage sets than realistic destinations.

• The lyric about returning "stronger than a powered-up Pac-Man" is echoed by the video's playful use of toy-like imagery and game-influenced visual language.

• "Oh My God" was the Kaiser Chiefs' breakthrough single and became a fixture of their live set, helping establish the band's mix of sharp, anxious lyrics and exuberant presentation.
