Synopsis

Labrinth is followed through the frantic, repetitive process of creating a record. A constantly moving camera travels between loosely connected spaces where he writes at the piano, rehearses, records vocals, faces record-label pressure, appears in interviews, shoots promotional footage, and performs for an audience. The fragmented settings gradually form a single creative journey, reflecting the song's themes of risk, persistence, and accepting uncertainty. The video turns the normally hidden work behind a release into its central subject.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was released on August 27, 2014, ahead of the single's UK release on September 28. "Let It Be" served as the lead single from Labrinth's planned second studio album, following 2012's *Electronic Earth*.
  • Its central camera move was created using motion-control techniques. The production connects recording, writing, rehearsing, label meetings, television appearances, and performance within one continuous-looking passage and a single physical space.
  • The stripped-back sets are intentionally incomplete. Rather than building fully enclosed locations, the production uses recognizable fragments of rooms and workspaces, allowing the camera to glide between them without conventional cuts.
  • The production was handled by Academy Films, with post-production and visual-effects work by Electric Theatre Collective.
  • Labrinth also documented the song's creation separately with a GoPro. The behind-the-scenes film covers the writing and recording process, including studio sessions and time spent on the road.
  • Labrinth described the song's musical direction as a combination of gospel and soul with rock and electronic production, citing Electric Light Orchestra, Nina Simone, James Brown, and John Barry as influences.
