Synopsis

A bored office worker goes through the motions of an ordinary morning, getting dressed, brushing his teeth, eating breakfast, and watching television. When the television reveals Caesars performing, the routine gives way to a burst of energy and release. The video then moves between the band's lively performance and the character's transformation from restrained employee to uninhibited frontman. Its loose narrative mirrors the song's call to break free, ending with the singer dropping the microphone as the performance fades out.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was released around 2002, when the band was still known in Sweden as Caesars Palace. The group used the shorter name Caesars internationally to avoid confusion with the Las Vegas hotel and casino.
  • The song originally appeared on the band's 2002 album "Love for the Streets." Its later international re-release in 2005 helped turn it into the band's best-known track outside Sweden.
  • "Jerk It Out" became strongly associated with Apple's early-2000s iPod Shuffle advertising campaign. The commercial's bright colors, moving silhouettes, and emphasis on physical movement reinforced the song's energetic image.
  • The track's profile was also boosted by appearances in video games including "SSX 3" and "FIFA Football 2004." It later reached audiences through "Just Dance," "Dance Dance Revolution SuperNova," and other game and soundtrack placements.
  • The song reached number eight on the UK Singles Chart after its 2005 re-release and number 70 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
  • The recording has remained a durable pop-culture sync, appearing in films, television series, commercials, and trailers. Its use in "Ted Lasso" and later game releases introduced it to audiences well beyond its original garage-rock context.

Lyrics

Wind me up
Put me down
Start me off and watch me go
I'll be running circles around you sooner than you know
A little off center
And I'm out of tune
Just kicking this can along the avenue
But I'm alright

Coz it's easy once you know how it's done
You can't stop now
It's already begun
You feel it
