Synopsis

Liam Gallagher performs "Songbird" alone in Hyde Park, seated beneath a tree with an acoustic guitar. Shot in black and white, the understated video follows him through the park as he interacts with a dog, creating a relaxed and gently comic contrast to the song's sincere romantic tone. Nicole Appleton also appears, adding a personal dimension to a song widely understood as Gallagher's affectionate tribute to his then-fiancée.

Factoids & Trivia

  • "Songbird" was the first Oasis single written by Liam Gallagher, rather than Noel Gallagher.
  • The song was released on February 3, 2003, as the fourth single from the album "Heathen Chemistry."
  • The video was filmed in London's Hyde Park and uses black-and-white photography throughout.
  • The closing dog sequence plays with perspective: Liam initially appears to chase the dog, before the action reverses and the dog appears to pursue him.
  • Nicole Appleton appears in the video. Gallagher wrote the song during his relationship with the All Saints singer.
  • At just over two minutes, "Songbird" is notably brief by Oasis standards. The single reached No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart.
