Sia - I'm in Here

Wiki

Synopsis

Sia sits alone in the cabin of an apparently unmanned airplane, surrounded by rows of empty seats and an oppressive gray sky. As the plane climbs higher, frost spreads across the windows and the outside world disappears into the clouds. A dense white smoke gradually advances down the aisle toward her, transforming the flight into an eerie, dreamlike passage. When the smoke finally clears, Sia remains isolated inside the aircraft, with the video ending on an unresolved note of confinement and emotional distress.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was released in late November 2010 to promote Sia's fifth studio album, We Are Born.
  • Rather than using the album recording, the clip features the song's stripped-down piano/vocal version. Inara George, best known as one half of The Bird and the Bee, provides additional vocals on that version.
  • "I'm In Here" was written by Sia and Samuel Dixon and produced by Greg Kurstin.
  • The stark piano ballad stands apart from the brighter, dance-oriented material that dominates much of We Are Born. Its minimal arrangement and bleak visual setting emphasize the song's themes of isolation and a desperate need to be heard.
  • The airplane setting turns the repeated plea for help into a literal image of being trapped in an enclosed space, while the frost, clouds, and smoke progressively remove any sense of escape.
