Synopsis

Set inside the Paris Metro, the video turns an ordinary underground journey into a kinetic race through stations, platforms, and carriages. Performers dash through the system while the camera captures their movements in dramatic slow motion, transforming running, jumping, and sudden gestures into an abstract dance. Pulsing fluorescent lights and the rhythmic editing give the footage a nervous, nocturnal energy, matching the driving electronic track and making the Metro feel like both a real transit network and a constantly accelerating dreamscape.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was made for the Knuckles remix of Blake's "What I Like." Knuckles, the Parisian DJ and producer associated with the project, later became known as Sovnger.

• Production was carried out in association with Olympus and the Jacques Lecoq International Theatre School, with the Paris Metro serving as the central location.

• The film used an Olympus i-SPEED 3 high-speed camera. Originally developed for industrial research and ballistics work, the camera was capable of recording at very high frame rates and was particularly useful in the Metro's dim conditions.

• The Metro's flickering fluorescent lighting was treated as part of the visual design. Increasing the frame rate allowed the camera to emphasize the natural pulsing of the neon strips.

• The video was shortlisted for Best Music Video at the 2010 New York Vimeo Film Festival and was also selected for the ECU Film Festival in 2011.

• Blake's original "What I Like" appeared on Eclectic Records in 2009. The Knuckles remix was subsequently included on compilations connected with labels and DJ platforms including Music Response, Perfecto Records, and Mixmag.
