Synopsis

At a bleak family dinner, young Tommy sits amid grotesque images of emotional neglect and domestic collapse. His father is detached, his mother appears trapped, and his sister is consumed by her phone. The scene shifts into a dreamlike escape at sea, where Tommy imagines his family transformed into a smiling, united group before their darker doubles drift away. The fantasy ends abruptly back at the dinner table, where Tommy takes violent action, turning the song's hopeful refrain into a grimly ironic plea.

• The official video was chosen through a competition launched for David Lynch's single. Almost 450 videos were submitted, with the final selection made by Lynch from a shortlist of 10 entries.

• The winning filmmaker received a 2,000-pound prize.
