AMSTERDAM feat. RETROHANDZ - SANTIAGO

Music Video

Wiki

Synopsis

Santiago delivers an introspective rap performance centered on the desire to escape routine, limits, and emotional pressure. The song frames Amsterdam as both a destination and an imagined state of freedom, reached through music, reflection, and shared movement. The video keeps the focus on the artist and the track's forward momentum, matching personal, searching verses with the electronic intensity supplied by Retrohandz.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was produced in 2011 by 2G and Sakshin, before the release of Santiago's first official solo album, "Ghiaccio e magma," on May 29, 2012.
  • Bruno Luca Perrone handled both the shoot and the edit, while Danilo Bungaro was credited with executive production.
  • "Amsterdam" was one of the two videos used to introduce "Ghiaccio e magma," alongside "40 Riot." The album was later promoted by "Non mi serve niente," featuring Primo and Squarta.
  • Retrohandz were not only guests on the track but also Santiago's principal production partners during this period. Their electronic approach helped define the hybrid sound of the project.
  • The song was also reworked as "Amsterdam (Ill Grosso Remix)" on the album. It appeared in another form on the "Blastaphonic Mixtape," where it was paired with an instrumental remix of Above & Beyond's "You Got To Go" by Seven Lions.
  • Santiago is the stage name of Marco Muraglia, who was born in Brindisi in 1984. His collaboration with Retrohandz had already produced the "Screen" EP in 2011.
