Synopsis

In an empty white space, a pair of white-gloved hands opens a pop-up book depicting Shitdisco performing "OK." Paper versions of the band sing, play guitar, operate keyboards and drum, with pull cords animating their mouths and limbs in time with the track. As the book unfolds, the camera moves into a photograph hidden among the pages. The paper world is then torn away, revealing the real band performing in the same stark setting, before the title "OK" bursts from their chests.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video turns the band's energetic new-rave sound into a deliberately handmade visual concept, using pop-up-book construction and visible puppetry rather than a conventional performance setup.

• The animated figures are controlled by pull cords, giving the paper musicians their movement and making the mechanics of the performance part of the visual appeal.

• A photograph tucked into the book provides the transition from the crafted paper world to live action. This makes the final reveal feel like the book has opened onto the band's real performance.

• Framestore handled the video's post-production. The production credits also list Jo Apps as editor, Guy Stephens as director of photography and Caroline Kalb as creative director.

• "OK" was released as a single on April 23, 2007, shortly after appearing on Shitdisco's debut album, "Kingdom of Fear." The single release was limited to 2,000 copies.

• The official online upload appeared on March 27, 2007, several weeks before the single's April 23 release, helping the unusual pop-up-book concept circulate ahead of the record's arrival.
