Synopsis

A cocaine user enters a surreal, hallucinatory world where the white powder seems to develop a life and personality of its own. Through rapid stop-motion transformations, sculpted forms twist, multiply and mutate around him, blurring the boundary between physical substance and psychological effect. The video presents cocaine as both a seductive source of energy and an unsettling presence, turning a familiar drug-taking ritual into an abstract, nightmarish spectacle of compulsive excitement and loss of control.

Factoids & Trivia

• The concept was inspired by Mister Kama's observations of cocaine use in Milan, where he and Marco Falatti were based. They approached cocaine as if it were a thinking entity capable of coming to life.

• The video was produced over three months. Mister Kama and Falatti created the animation in three weeks, working with sculpted puppets and stop-motion techniques.

• The production was notably labor-intensive. Dust used in the imagery settled across the set, forcing the team to clean individual frames during post-production.

• Mister Kama handled the editing, post-production and sound design, later spending two weeks finalizing the soundtrack.

• "Enthusiasm" is the original track from Mister Kama's album "UNMSTRD."

• The video combines animation with macro photography and special-effects photography, giving the powder and handmade forms a tactile, almost biological quality.

• The artwork for the project was created by Ivan Manupelli, also known as Hurricane Ivan.
