Synopsis

Two lonely strangers move through the urban landscape of Los Angeles, each seemingly searching for someone just out of reach. Their paths take them through downtown streets, industrial surroundings and the spaces between everyday life and dreamlike abstraction. Visual distortions, shifting colors and live-image effects give the encounter a hazy, memory-like quality. Although they repeatedly come close to one another in unexpected places, their eventual meeting arrives by chance, turning the song's themes of distance, longing and disconnection into a modest romantic vignette.

Factoids & Trivia

• "Film Burn" was released as the first single from Yppah's 2012 album "Eighty One" on Ninja Tune.

• Yppah and Anomie Belle first met while Yppah was touring with Bonobo in 2010. Belle ultimately appeared on four tracks from "Eighty One."

• The video was filmed in downtown Los Angeles and at Glass Slipper Studio.

• Karen Forman and Brendan McNamara play the two central characters.

• The production included an on-set VJ, Jon Degooyer, whose involvement reflects the video's emphasis on projected, shifting and electronically altered imagery.

• The production credits list Smash LeFunk as director of photography, with Brien Rullman and Dominic Bendijo working as gaffers.
