Synopsis

A man and a woman move through a strange, dreamlike world where human presence and animated imagery continually overlap. The video's central motif is the heart, which appears in a succession of changing forms as the performers interact with their surroundings. Flesh, plastic, mechanical, illustrated, etched and sculptural hearts give the track's emotional pulse a series of physical shapes. The live-action scenes and handmade-looking animations create an intentionally surreal visual companion to the song's warm vocal house sound.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video combines live action with a sequence of separately designed heart animations. The production credits identify eight contributors and list the animated hearts in chronological order.

• The heart designs range from a flesh heart and cigar heart to a punk-cartoon heart, plastic heart, etched heart, red-thread heart, exhausted heart, mechanical heart and abstract sculpture heart.

• Laura van Maaren and Pedro Cabanas appear in the live-action sections, with Esther Wauters credited for makeup.

• The clip was produced by Toon Vandenbranden and Charles De Meyer as a Chuck Eklectric production. It was commissioned by Tim Beuckels for N.E.W.S.

• "Rhythm" was released by Music Man Records in 2013 as the first single from Deetron's album "Music Over Matter." The original mix runs for 5:54.

• Ben Westbeech's vocal contribution followed Deetron's earlier remix work on Westbeech's single "Falling," making the collaboration a musical exchange between the two artists.

• The single was issued with remixes by Karizma and by Will Saul and October, alongside instrumental versions.
