Wiki

Synopsis

A man attempting to cross a border is stopped by armed agents before continuing into the desert. He eventually encounters Hot Hot Heat, who are portrayed as questionable characters involved in a strange roadside operation. After revealing that women are being transported in a truck, he draws the band into an increasingly bizarre situation. Structured more like a compact crime movie than a conventional performance clip, the video combines desert locations, deadpan acting, and the band's energetic performance.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video runs for approximately eight minutes, making it closer to a short film than a standard music video.
  • Burt Young appears as the truck driver. Young was best known for playing Paulie in the *Rocky* films.
  • The band members play "less-than-savory characters," according to frontman Steve Bays, who also described the production as a "really weird" shoot.
  • Filming took place in the high desert north of Los Angeles. Bays noted that extensive editing was planned, which helped keep the video's storyline under wraps before release.
  • Stunt coordinator Andrea VanEpps is credited on the production.
  • "Goddess on the Prairie" appears on *Future Breeds*, Hot Hot Heat's fourth studio album, released in 2010.
  • The song was also included among the tracks available in an optional music pack for Winamp 5.58.
