Synopsis

A young man whose life seems to be going nowhere encounters a mysterious message from deep space. The communication gives him a strange new purpose and sends him toward an unexpected transformation. Armed with a homemade spacesuit and a powerful sense of rhythm, he channels the music's funk-driven energy to tear through the boundaries of time and space. What begins as a lonely, frustrated existence becomes an eccentric cosmic mission, as his newfound power promises to open a brighter future for everyone around him.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was created through a Genero music-video competition launched for Booka Shade's "Teenage Spaceman." The project closed on July 15, 2010, after receiving 48 submissions from 22 countries.

• The winning entry was made in New Zealand and was selected as both the competition's client choice and a Genero Staff Pick.

• Production moved remarkably quickly: the finished video was developed from concept to completion in roughly five weeks, with the principal creator also handling production and visual-effects work.

• The hero is played by Scott Orr. The production also used a custom 3D spacesuit created by Steve Hutt, while Fredd Marshall and Fergus Jack Hinton assisted with the visual-effects shots.

• Booka Shade reportedly had not previously released a video with such an overt sense of humor. The band's Arno Kammermeier said that initial reservations gave way because the clip kept drawing them back for repeat viewings.

• The track appears on Booka Shade's 2010 album "More!" and was released as part of the "Teenage Spaceman" single campaign, which also featured multiple club-oriented remixes.
