Synopsis

Seen entirely from a man's point of view, the video follows a young couple through a volatile escape filled with romance, crime and sudden violence. Their journey unfolds in fragments, with repeated actions and shifting perspectives gradually revealing how each catastrophe happened. As the story loops back toward its beginning, the couple's relationship is shown as both passionate and destructive, leading to a tragic final revelation. The immersive camera places the viewer directly inside the man's experience while withholding crucial information until the closing moments.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was shot entirely on a Canon 5D Mark II, using a custom face-mounted camera rig. The production used Canon 14mm and 24mm lenses.

• The first-person format makes the central character's face invisible throughout the story. His emotions are conveyed through movement, gestures and what the camera sees.

• The video was produced on an estimated budget of only $2,000.

• Nate Eggert co-wrote the concept and also served as associate producer. Francis Pollara produced the project, while Justin Gurnari handled cinematography and Nate Tam edited it.

• "Luv Deluxe" won Best Music Video at SXSW in 2010. It was also selected for Saatchi & Saatchi's New Directors Showcase, shortlisted for the 2010 Vimeo Awards and chosen for the official selection at Cannes Lions 2010.

• The video helped bring wider attention to Cinnamon Chasers after its release in 2009. The band's Kris Kruger later described the concept as a dark love story inspired by the emotional quality of the track.

• A director's cut was released separately from the original music video.
