Anthony Green - Get Yours While You Can

Music Video

Wiki

Synopsis

Anthony Green lies motionless as a dead man while a chaotic gathering unfolds around him. People dance, wrestle, move erratically and channel the song's restless energy, barely acknowledging the body at the center of the room. The unsettling contrast between Green's stillness and the surrounding movement gives the video a surreal, darkly comic quality. Rather than following a conventional narrative, it presents death as a strange stage for other people's vitality, turning the performance into an abstract meditation on energy, absence and mortality.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was filmed in Brooklyn in late November 2011 and released on January 31, 2012.
  • It accompanied "Get Yours While You Can," the first single from Green's second solo album, Beautiful Things, which arrived on January 17, 2012.
  • Green described the central image of his character being dead as part of the video's symbolism. In his interpretation, the people around him carry and express the energy of the song while he remains physically inactive.
  • The deliberately uncomfortable tone was part of the video's appeal. Contemporary coverage singled it out as both intriguing and disturbing rather than treating it as a straightforward performance clip.
  • A separate making-of feature was released alongside the video, giving the project additional promotional material beyond the official clip.
  • The song later appeared in acoustic and live settings, including Green's Live at Studio 4 release, showing that the composition continued to have a life outside the original studio video.
