Synopsis

The video presents 2gether as a manufactured boy band whose members are introduced through exaggerated personal images: a wedding guest, a jet-ski enthusiast, a boxer, a rock musician, and a bedroom heartthrob. After these staged character vignettes, the group gathers for a choreographed performance in a large building surrounded by enthusiastic fans. The deliberately polished presentation and neatly divided personalities reinforce the song's affectionate parody of late-1990s boy-band videos.

Factoids & Trivia

• "U + Me = Us (Calculus)" was the fictional group's breakout single in the 2000 MTV movie 2gether, which satirized the boy-band phenomenon.

• The song was written by Brian Kierulf, Josh Schwartz, Brian Gunn, and Mark Gunn, and produced by KNS Productions.

• The five performers were cast around familiar boy-band archetypes: the heartthrob, the shy one, the cute one, the bad boy, and the older-brother figure.

• The song appeared on the group's debut soundtrack album, 2gether, which reached No. 35 on the Billboard 200.

• The video is notable for treating the band's invented personas as if they were genuine pop-star biographies, turning standard image-building into part of the joke.

• A version of the original video was later issued on a Sony DVD released in 2001.
