Synopsis

Ricky Martin appears as the spirit of a man who has died, returning to watch over the woman he loved. As she moves through familiar places and memories of their relationship, she senses his presence without being able to fully reach him. Martin wanders across a beach, through a forest and along a dramatic cliffside, performing the ballad with a wistful, otherworldly calm. The video uses flashbacks and romantic fantasy imagery to frame the song as a farewell from beyond the grave.

• The video was filmed in Los Angeles in June 1999, using Boyle Ranch in Chatsworth, the Lovell House and Raleigh Studios.

• Its supernatural love story was inspired in part by the 1998 fantasy film "What Dreams May Come."

• Puerto Rican actress Charlotte Ayanna plays Martin's former lover. She was selected after her agent submitted a photograph, and Martin reportedly wanted a performer with a spiritual, gentle and loving quality rather than a conventional sex-symbol image.

• A Spanish-language version was produced using essentially the same footage. In that version, Martin mouths the Spanish lyrics to "Bella."

• The video premiered on MTV's "Total Request Live" on August 6, 1999, during the peak of Martin's English-language crossover.

• "She's All I Ever Had" received a nomination for Best New Artist Clip - Jazz/AC at the 1999 Billboard Music Video Awards.

• The Spanish-language counterpart, "Bella," won Video of the Year at the 2000 Premio Lo Nuestro awards.

• The English-language video won Best Music Video at the 2000 Imagen Foundation Awards.
