• The song is a cover of Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan's 1992 composition. The Ramones recorded it for their 1995 album *Adios Amigos!*, their final studio album.

• Daniel Clowes created the artwork for the animated video. The comic-book format was chosen because the song centers on a child resisting the idea of growing up.

• Clowes later recalled that Joey Ramone suggested adding topical caricatures, including Rush Limbaugh and O.J. Simpson. Clowes rejected the idea because he felt those references would quickly date the video.
