Synopsis

Puff Daddy moves through a dark, futuristic city as Godzilla's presence turns the urban landscape into a place of panic and spectacle. After encountering the monster, he escapes in an elevator that shoots out from a skyscraper and carries him through the air. He eventually descends in a white suit onto a grand performance stage, where Jimmy Page appears with his guitar. The video's oversized destruction, orchestral staging, and dramatic lighting match the song's role as the centerpiece of the 1998 Godzilla soundtrack.

Factoids & Trivia

  • "Come With Me" was created for the 1998 film Godzilla and appeared on the accompanying album, Godzilla: The Album.
  • The song reworks Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir," using its distinctive musical foundation while adding new lyrics by Sean Combs and Mark Curry. Jimmy Page received writing credit alongside Robert Plant and John Bonham.
  • Jimmy Page's appearance made the video an unusual meeting of late-1990s hip-hop and classic rock. He performs with the guitar while Puff Daddy remains the visual focus of the staged production.
  • Tom Morello contributed live guitar parts to the recording and also played bass, adding another prominent rock musician to the track's production.
  • The video uses Godzilla as more than a soundtrack tie-in: the monster is integrated into the narrative as the force that disrupts the city and drives Puff Daddy's escape.
  • Released as a single in June 1998, "Come With Me" became one of the most commercially successful songs connected with the film, reaching No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning a platinum certification.
  • Puff Daddy and Jimmy Page also performed the song together on Saturday Night Live in 1998, reinforcing the collaboration's crossover appeal beyond the movie campaign.

Lyrics

Huh huh, yeah
Huh huh, yeah
Huh, huh huh, yeah
Huh, huh huh, yeah
Huh, huh huh, yeah
Huh, huh huh, yeah, yeah

Hear my cries, hear my call
Lend me your ears, see my fall
See my errors, know my faults
Time halts, see my loss

Know I'm lacking, backtracking
