Synopsis

Oasis take their early swagger into the California desert in this alternate version of "Supersonic." The Gallagher brothers and the rest of the band are seen traveling by car through the arid landscape before arriving at the Cabazon Dinosaurs, the giant roadside attractions near Palm Springs. Performance footage inside the dinosaur structure is cut together with shots of the band on the road, giving the video a loose, surreal American road-trip atmosphere that contrasts with the rooftop setting of the original UK version.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The US version was filmed in Cabazon, California, during Oasis' first North American tour.
  • The giant dinosaurs seen in the video are the Cabazon Dinosaurs, a well-known roadside attraction that also appeared in films and other music videos.
  • Footage inside one of the dinosaurs was shot in the structure's actual interior, rather than in a studio recreation.
  • Unlike the UK video, which was made for the full-length track, the US version uses an American radio edit.
  • "Supersonic" was Oasis' first music video, but the US version was created later as a separate promotional film for the American market.
  • Both the UK and US versions were included on the DVD issued for the 10th anniversary edition of "Definitely Maybe" in 2004.
