Synopsis

A frightened girl escapes her abusive father by retreating into a hidden world of insects. After he violently destroys her room, she locks herself in a cupboard, where sugar, honey, and crawling creatures become part of her strange sanctuary. As the father tries to break in, the child disappears into a cocoon. Mylene Farmer emerges in an elaborate insect-like form, transforming pain and helplessness into an unsettling vision of escape, rebirth, and emotional separation from the world that hurt her.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was filmed in Los Angeles over two days, on August 28 and 29, 1996. It runs for approximately four minutes and first aired on French television on September 16, 1996.

• The production was made for Requiem Publishing with a reported budget of about 80,000 euros.

• Mylene Farmer was closely involved in developing the insect costume. It was held together with iron wire and pins, making the final transformation especially demanding to construct and wear.

• The armor-like costume was created by Jean Paul Gaultier.

• The shoot reportedly had only one photographer present: Jeff Dahlgren, who had also appeared in the 1992 film "Giorgino." Very few behind-the-scenes photographs were taken.

• A story circulated that an earlier version of the production had used panthers, which supposedly destroyed the sets and forced the video to be remade with insects. The anecdote remains unconfirmed; the production team later indicated that the story was not known to them.

• The video was previewed through extracts on M6 before its full television premiere. It was later included on the "Music Videos II" VHS and the "Music Videos II & III" DVD.

• Although the single performed modestly commercially, peaking at No. 11 in France, the song and video have remained particularly popular among Farmer's fans.
