Synopsis

The video presents Mr. Mister as a working touring band, opening with the musicians leaving their tour bus before moving into concert footage. Richard Page sings at the front of the stage while Steve Farris, Steve George, and Pat Mastelotto perform under bright, rapidly changing lights. Backstage moments, travel scenes, and shots of the group on the road are intercut with the live performance, giving the clip a documentary-style portrait of the band's momentum during the breakthrough period surrounding "Welcome to the Real World."

• The footage was assembled from the end of Mr. Mister's autumn 1985 tour with Tina Turner, giving the video its touring-documentary feel rather than a scripted narrative.

• "Kyrie" was written by Richard Page, Steve George, and John Lang. Page and George developed the music while Mr. Mister was touring with Adam Ant.

• The title comes from the Greek liturgical phrase "Kyrie eleison," commonly translated as "Lord, have mercy." The song's religious language initially made Page worry that the band might be labeled a Christian act.

• The single and video version runs about 4:10 and ends with the returning a cappella vocal phrase. The longer album version fades out instead.

• "Kyrie" became Mr. Mister's second consecutive US Billboard Hot 100 number-one single after "Broken Wings," spending two weeks at the top in March 1986.
