Synopsis

Set in a glittering Las Vegas casino, Mariah Carey moves through a series of stylized roles, including a showgirl, cabaret performer, cowgirl, and lucky charm. She sings among roulette tables, poker chips, and brightly lit casino sets while members of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony appear as gamblers. Redman turns up as a magician, and Carey performs a playful chair routine recalling classic cabaret staging. The glamorous spectacle gives the song's heartbreak a theatrical, knowingly over-the-top backdrop.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was assembled on a very tight schedule. Carey later said the production was put together in roughly two days after the original shooting date fell through.

• Jermaine Dupri and Redman make cameo appearances. Redman's role as a magician adds to the clip's casino-show atmosphere.

• The cabaret section, with Carey seated and dancing on a bentwood chair, was widely compared with Liza Minnelli's Sally Bowles in the film *Cabaret*.
