Synopsis

KMFDM's "Juke Joint Jezebel" video combines footage of the band performing with animated sequences from the Japanese anime Patlabor 1. The imagery shifts between the musicians and futuristic mechanical action, matching the track's hard electronic pulse, heavy guitar loops, and gospel-inflected chorus. Rather than presenting a conventional narrative, the video creates a collage of industrial performance and anime spectacle. A separate version uses footage from the 1995 Mortal Kombat film and is set to Giorgio Moroder's "Metropolis" remix.

Factoids & Trivia

• The song was released as the lead single from KMFDM's 1995 album Nihil and became the band's best-known track.

• Two distinct videos were made. The original combines live-action band footage with Patlabor 1 animation, while the alternate version was assembled to promote Mortal Kombat.

• The Mortal Kombat version uses the "Metropolis" remix, one of several versions created after Giorgio Moroder reworked the song.

• MTV reportedly hesitated to air the video because of the violent imagery associated with the Mortal Kombat footage.

• The original recording also appeared in the 1995 film Bad Boys, while the remix was included on the Mortal Kombat soundtrack. Both soundtracks eventually achieved platinum status.

• Sascha Konietzko later said he disliked the song even as it continued generating income for the band. KMFDM removed it from their regular concert setlist in 2003.
