Synopsis

Set inside a surreal fashion show, the video presents a parade of supermodels and performance artists in Thierry Mugler's extravagant designs. George Michael appears briefly as the camera operator, filming the models as they strut, pose and perform for an unseen audience. The runway spectacle mixes high fashion, theatrical makeup, exaggerated silhouettes and playful backstage energy. Linda Evangelista, Tyra Banks, Eva Herzigova and Nadja Auermann are among the famous faces featured in this deliberately artificial, highly stylized catwalk production.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was made for "Too Funky," a track originally associated with the abandoned follow-up to Michael's album *Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1*. The song was instead donated to the AIDS-benefit project *Red Hot + Dance*, and Michael gave the royalties to the same cause.

• Thierry Mugler created the costumes, giving the video its metallic, sculptural and futuristic look. The clothes came from his own fashion world rather than being generic runway styling.

• The cast brought together major early-1990s models including Eva Herzigova, Linda Evangelista, Nadja Auermann, Emma Sjoberg, Estelle Hallyday, Shana Zadrick, Tyra Banks, Beverly Peele and Connie Fleming.

• The lineup also included actress Julie Newmar, actress Rossy de Palma, and performance artists Joey Arias and Lypsinka. Their presence made the clip feel closer to a theatrical Mugler show than a conventional pop video.

• The concept developed after writer Jeff Beasley attended a Mugler benefit fashion show in Los Angeles. The finished video turns that kind of event into a fictional runway spectacle.

• Michael's appearances are intentionally brief, framing him as the person filming the models rather than the star of the catwalk. This echoed the model-centered approach of his earlier "Freedom! '90" video.

• The production generated more than one version. A separate "making of" film was also produced, documenting the elaborate fashion-video collaboration.

• The video became one of the defining music-and-fashion images of the early 1990s, preserving the era's supermodel culture and Mugler's theatrical design language in a pop format.
