Synopsis

El Tri's "Nostalgia" is a performance-led video built around the song's reflection on the end of the 20th century. Alex Lora and the band deliver a backward glance at the music, attitudes and rebellious spirit associated with earlier generations, while the visual presentation reinforces the track's memory-driven mood. Rather than following a conventional fictional plot, the clip connects the band's rock performance with the song's central idea: every generation eventually looks back, revives old influences and recognizes familiar patterns in its own parents and children.

Factoids & Trivia

  • "Nostalgia" appeared on *Fin de Siglo*, El Tri's fifteenth studio album, released in 1998 by Warner Music Mexico.
  • The song became the album's best-known single and centers on the cultural memory of the century coming to an end.
  • Its lyrics name the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and John Lennon as touchstones of the past.
  • The song also links nostalgia with the return of rebellious imagery, including Che Guevara, anarchism and revolution. That gives the track a sharper edge than a simple remembrance of old songs.
  • The central generational observation is that children rebel against their parents in much the same way their parents rebelled against their grandparents, often adopting similar causes, styles and music.
  • El Tri revisited the song in the orchestral project *Sinfónico*. A symphonic video version was included on the accompanying DVD released in 2010.
  • The official music video was later issued online through the band's Warner-associated video channel, giving the 1998 song a new digital life.
